The Saga of Pueblo D70’s “Free” Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Curriculum
Backdoor implementation and hidden costs of TRAILS Curriculum are exposed
Kelly Notarfrancesco writes in the Rocky Mountain Voice about the infiltration of social justice organizations like Prosono and the Tides Center in a vulnerable, rural school district.
D70 accepted a “gift” of controversial psychosocial educational content, financed and promoted by multi-million-dollar non-governmental organizations dedicated to transforming the world through social change.
Colorado Parent Advocacy Network (coloradoparents.org) filed a formal complaint with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR), highlighting the recklessness with which this SEL curriculum was selected and implemented in D70 without parental consent or transparency, and in direct violation of federal law.
What is deceptively presented as “support” can instead become a pipeline for vulnerable children to receive life-altering advice and encouragement to make irreversible decisions while bypassing the guidance and protection of their parents.
This is not social emotional learning or crisis support; it is ideological grooming disguised as compassion.
